Tobi Keck (*1987, Germany) studied Visual Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. “In Real Life” is exactly what it says it is: a 16 kg brick of cash — money at its most physical, weighed rather than counted. The title earns its irony from where the work has been: recently shown at the Yes A.I. can! Festival in Rostock’s Nicolaikirche, where a literal pile of currency made the most analogue case imaginable for what “real” means in a room full of the virtual. A brick of cash in a church adds a second charge to that, all on its own.
