“insomnia” follows a single figure across the canvas, chasing the moment sleep finally agrees to arrive — and never quite reaching it. That deferral is the whole picture: Magdalena Paz Torres Mandiola (*1990) draws out the pursuit rather than the rest, so the figure stays suspended in the long, restless stretch before sleep instead of being granted it. Torres Mandiola studied fashion design, illustration and fine art across the Pratt Institute, the Academy of Art University, and the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule, and that mix of disciplines suits a work built on movement and the body carried through a space.
