In nagelland, Artist Nikolay Petrov (*2002) portrays worn shoes and their long, tangled laces form a map of crossing and merging paths that get confused. shoes traditionally symbolize a life’s journey and here they carry the weight of time, movement and distance. a photo transfer of a snow-covered parking lot in my hometown, Omsk, is embedded in the painting. black tracks left by cars cut through the snow like drawn lines. the work connects paths made by people and by machines, chosen routes and inherited ones. it reflects how every journey leaves a trace shaped by origin and direction. Petrov is studying Fine Arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf alongside Communication Design at the Hochschule Düsseldorf. Recently exhibited at Art Düsseldorf (2026), Jahresgaben 25/26 Ludwigshafen (2025), Perspektiven Kunstverein Bremen (2025).
