Simon Kellermann (*1993, Germany) studied Fine Arts at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg. “Rapture” sits with the difficulty of staying hopeful when the future feels unsettled — not resolving that tension so much as holding it open, which is the harder and more honest thing to do. The title cuts both ways: rapture as transport and elation, but also the Rapture as ending, the two pulling against each other in a way that keeps the work from settling into easy optimism or easy dread. Recently exhibited at Sammlung Holle, Kunstraum Potsdam.
