Roman Manikhin (*1977) studied Communication Design at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry. In “Vacation Romance,” explicit sexuality is both subject and device — not provocation for its own sake, but a way of pulling attention back toward human closeness and tenderness. The frankness is the point: by refusing to look away from the body, the work insists on intimacy as something worth taking seriously rather than something to be glanced at and dismissed. Recently exhibited at Galerie von Wegen, Hamburg.
